“To build cool things – well”.

 

For our Director, Dan, there was never a future that didn’t involve building houses. Growing up in country NSW, I have been building things since before I can remember. I am passionate about how we can continue to challenge ourselves as builders and push boundaries to deliver cutting-edge, state of the art, projects that are both functional and durable for decades to come.

 

Establishing a building company was always my ambition and is a goal that I am fortunate to be living now. I completed my Apprenticeship in 2010 and was lucky enough to do this with a builder who taught me all aspects of building, as opposed to some Apprentice’s today who only specialise in framing, as an example. After finishing my apprenticeship, I knew that it was absolutely vital to gain experience out of my local region to understand and learn from others. This has literally seen me move to opposites ends of the world (and Australia!), having spent time building residential houses in Dallas, Texas, in the United States, followed by gaining commercial building experience rebuilding an Airport in North West QLD, where I met my now wife. We’ve been based in Brisbane for the past 8 years, where I have been supervising for custom home builders. During my career, I’ve also completed additional study to gain my NSW Builders License and my QLD Open Builders License – the highest qualification available for builders in our State.

 

With the building industry today segregated into different stages of the build cycle, for example businesses who specialise in standing frames or wall cladding, there is a genuine disconnect in our market for understanding the entire build process. Whilst this promotes efficiency and cost management for that business, it is – at the same time – limiting the experience of our Apprentice’s and young Builders to a singular skill and the inability to foresee problems and the ripple effects of decisions across the whole of the build process. This is where Finer Touch differs.

 

I am passionate about bridging this knowledge gap, ensuring that we have enthusiastic, passionate builders with well-rounded skills and experience that can continue to be passed on to future generations. This is important not only for the industry, but for our clients in ensuring we are delivering the highest standards of workmanship and care to our projects.

 

My goal for Finer Touch Projects is simple: to build exceptional projects that inspire awe and stand the test of time - and to build those cool things, well. To me, it isn’t about what’s impossible, it’s about how we come together, brainstorm and create a solution with clients who are looking to have their dreams brought to life. Building ‘cool things’ means creating projects that never cease to amaze, leaving a lasting impact and eliciting admiration. This passion is the driving force behind our work at Finer Touch Projects.
